This is a perfect little art project to do on vacation. In fact, that’s where we made these! Escaping the longest winter known to man (which is more of an emotional statement than a factual one), we recently traveled to the Caribbean. The resort where we stayed had the most beautiful and exotic (and giant) leaves we had ever seen.
Every day we collected the ones that had fallen to the ground until we had a big pile. Then we took out our watersoluble crayons and started to paint! So simple.
When we travel as a family, I always pack a small bag of art supplies. You don’t need much…maybe watercolors and blank postcards, or even just some markers, paper and washi tape. Vacation is a perfect time to make art together!

Aw this is so simple but so cute :-) Gonna try it with the little siblings
What is the name of the tree that you got your leaves from. I have a couple of those leaves that I brought back with me several years ago. I love painting on them
Hi Sandi…I am not 100% sure what the leaves are called. It might be that they are from the banyan trees. That’s what we call them, but I could be wrong. They are so big and fun to collect and paint, though, aren’t they? We still have a ton of them at home that we have in a box for another special day. xx Bar
They are called sea grape leaves :) (I am from south florida, we have them everywhere)…
Love the ideas
Hi:
What other kind of leaves would work?
And were your leaves dry?
Thanks, Y
Definitely use dry leaves. I’m guessing any leaf that is fairly sturdy when dry will work just fine!
o, it is good die
Thanks BAR, for providing in detailed article this was really helpful for me.
Thanks for sharing an amazing post this is an amazing painting, and I will share it with our family.
