My 6 year old’s blankie is turning into one of those childhood relics: frayed edges, holes in the corners, and threadbare spots. She keeps asking me to sew it up, but I can’t, it’s not the kind of holes you can repair. But it’s also a memento of a childhood full of love and comfort, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
These handmade stuffed animals from Ieva Fray are intentionally made to fray over time. As they are loved, washed, and played with, they’ll wear in a little more and more until they reach their maximum fray potential! I have to admit, I’m really curious to see what that would look like. If I had one, I might be tempted to wash it everyday to, erm, hasten the process a little bit. But, of course, that’s not the intent of these toys – it’s a child’s love that should wear them in.
