I just saw this amazing new toy concept thanks to Apartment Therapy and had to spread the word. Roominate is a building system aimed at girls and their love of dollhouses, design, and imaginative role playing – but without dumbing it in down. In fact, they’re betting on the fact that girls love tech and gadgetry too.
Designed by women looking for ways to bring more girls into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM!), Roominate brings circuits, building, and problem-solving to your more typical dollhouse time. It sounds like an amazing combination – and something I would have loved as a kid (and also LOVE as an adult!). Seriously, I want to play with it right now. Heck, if Roominate is looking for some additional design ideas from an award-winning Toy Designer, um, I know where to look (Wink. Nudge)!
Roominate has just finished an insanely successful Kickstarter campaign to help fund their manufacturing goals, and they expect Roominate systems to be available in November.
